I have the honour to enclose for your
information and for transmission to the Advisory Committee
on Education in the Colonies thirty copies of a Code governing the grant by Government of subsidies to vernacular schools in this Colony.
2. This Code, which has been prepared by the Director of Education in consultation with the Board of
Education, has received my approval but I shall be glad if I may be informed if it contains any provisions which do not appear to you to be entirely satisfactory.
3.
The Code was laid on the table of Legislative
Council at the meeting of 12th of May, 1938, and I am
advised that no legislative action is necessary to bring
it into force.
